TN Bragging Rights Travelling Trophy

About Its Purpose

The TN Bragging Rights Travelling Trophy was created to mimic a TN or District Travelling Gavel (or the O.E.S. Travelling Star), but with slightly different goals/purposes:

  1.  Principally created in an effort to promote charity, fellowship, and Freemasonry.
  2. To build stronger inter-organizational ties and closer relationships between the members of the various TN Masonic Organizations.
  3. To promote public awareness, interest, and enthusiasm in the Masonic Organizations by allowing them to attend events specifically designed to promote philanthropy.
  4. To increase Masonic Organization membership and participation through increased public exposure, charitable activity, and community service.
  5. To encourage visitation to new Masonic Organizations.
  6. To have fun and instill healthy competition among Masonic Organizations for bragging rights and to have their name enshrined for posterity on the TN Bragging Rights Travelling Trophy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at TNTravellingTrophy@gmail.com  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Be sure to read the Trophy Rules and Guidelines to ensure you understand the reason behind the TN Bragging Rights Travelling Trophy and its spirit of intra-organizational fellowship and benevolence. This will help you better plan your Trophy Event.

In short, the Trophy Rules and Guidelines were created to govern the Trophy itself.  The "Trophy Event Rules" are the contest rules you set for your specific Trophy Event.  I.e., the "Trophy Event Rules" will vary from contest to contest, and from host to host.  There are many contest and contest rules examples in the Guidelines section of the Trophy Rules and Guidelines.

  1. Be sure to read the Trophy Rules and Guidelines to ensure you understand the reason behind the TN Bragging Rights Travelling Trophy and its spirit of intra-organizational fellowship and benevolence. This will help you better plan your Trophy Event.
  2. Select the charity your organization wishes to sponsor.  Sometimes this helps in determining what kind of Trophy Event you wish to host.
  3. Determine your Trophy Event Rules.
  4. Agree on the Trophy Event date/time.
  5. Send e-mail to TNTravellingTrophy@gmail.com with the Trophy Event date/time/place/rules/details (i.e., all of the above).
  6. Have fun at your event and promote Masonry and Charity!

When announcing your Trophy Event (e.g., via e-mail, 3 Knocks, District 12 e-Trestleboard, Facebook, Hip sites, etc.), please include your Trophy Event Rules. In order to give participating organizations enough preparation time, Trophy Event notifications should be made at least 3 weeks in advance of the Trophy Event.

In order to ensure that anyone in the state can inquire about the current whereabouts of the TN Bragging Rights Travelling Trophy, Trophy Event Hosts agree to e-mail TNTravellingTrophy@gmail.com with the new location when ownership changes hands. The e-mail should contain the following information, which mirrors the Travel Log, but is to be stored electronically and published on the trophy’s history web page (a photo of the travel log entry is sufficient—if legible):

  • Host Organization (i.e., your lodge/chapter/etc.)
  • The Trophy Event date/time
  • Trophy Event Description (e.g., Chili Cook-Off, Golf Tournament, Most in Attendance, etc.)
  • The Sponsored Charity (including website, contact, phone number--in case someone else would like to use them again in the future)
  • Amount collected (time in hours, amount in money, quantity in materials—can determine success of certain events over others and/or allow others to re-use charities)
  • Number of people in attendance at the event
  • Number of Masonic Organizations represented
  • The winning Masonic Organization (including a contact name/e-mail/phone number)

Please also include a copy of the Trophy Event Rules, also to be included in the log (in case someone else would like to use your event idea, they can use/modify your rules).

The same as if you had given it away.  Send an e-mail to TNTravellingTrophy@gmail.com containing the following information, which mirrors the Travel Log, but is to be stored electronically and published on the trophy’s history web page (a photo of the travel log entry is sufficient—if legible):

  • Host Organization (i.e., your lodge/chapter/etc.)
